Q. Will my historical certifications be in the online system?

A. Any certifications that were not expired when the site went live (12/2013) were imported.

Q. Will the system notify me when my certification is about to expire?

A. Yes, six months prior to your certification expiring you will be notified via email. You should start the process as soon as possible to protect your certification status.

Q. What format must attachments be in to upload to my application?

A. Uploaded documents must be in one of the following formats: GIF(image), JPG(image), PNG(image), BMP(image), DOC(Word), DOCX(Word), PDF(Adobe), or RTF(rich text).

Q. How do I reset my password?

A. From the Home page click on “Forgotten password? Click here”, and follow the prompts. The system will send an email that will allow you to reset your password. If your email address has changed since you registered, you may need to use the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page.

Q. How do I change my personal profile information?

A. Once logged into the system, your name will appear at the top of the screen. Click the arrow next to your name, and a menu will appear with an “Edit Profile” option. You will directed here automatically any time more than 90 days has passed since the profile was updated.

Q. How do I pay for the application fee?

A. You can pay by credit card at the time of the application process or by mailing a check to the IAI. Note: The IAI recommends paying by credit card to expedite the application process. The application will not be processed until payment is received.

Q. Where do I send a check for application fees?

A. When filling out the application if you select payment by check you will be prompted to print out a payment validation form to mail along with your check. All check payments must have a payment validation form to process.

Q. What do I do if I am having problems logging in to the system?

A. Verify your email address and password is correct. If you forgot your password you can click on “Forgotten password? Click here”, and follow the prompts.

Q. Where can I save scanned hard copies to attach to my application?

A. You can save your files to a thumb drive or on your computer’s hard drive.

Q. Do I have to be a member of the IAI to apply for certification?

A. No, you do not have to be a member, but members receive a discounted price. To learn more about becoming a member of the IAI visit https://www.theiai.org/membership

Q. Why do I have to enter my birth date?

A. Your date of birth is used to distinguish you from other members in case of duplicate names. You can trust that the IAI has gone to great lengths to keep your personal information secure.

Q. How long is my certification good for?

A. All certifications are good for five years from the latest test date (new certs) or the expiration of the last certification (renewal certs).

Q. If my request for certification is denied, will my application fee be returned?

A. No, all application fees are non-refundable. Please ensure that you have met all the requirements to be considered before submitting your application.

Q. Who do I contact if I have questions?

A. Most certification boards have their own web pages with information specific to that certification. If you still have questions you can contact the Secretary of that board. Names are listed on the certification board webpage. Go to http://theiai.org/certifications/ and click on the certification board that you have questions about. For questions about specific to using this site, use the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page.

Q. Can I print out my application?

A. Yes, You will have a chance to print your application before submitting it for review.

Q. Will my credit card information be saved in the system?

A. Your full credit card number will only be saved until payment is processed. After this, we only keep part of the number for verification.

Q. I do not have an "Attach Proof" button to upload documents.
